Assessment Centre Design and Delivery

Majority of procedures were based on a thorough job analysis; gaining a full understanding of the business strategies and working with experts to ensure realistic assessment centre exercises. 

  • Designed selection procedure for the recruitment of seven change agents into IT (part of the Post Office).  Chaired the selection board and co-ordinated reports to successful and unsuccessful candidates.  Assessed on 8 boards.

  • Designed selection procedure for the recruitment of Quality Support Managers into Royal Mail.  Ran training course for assessors to ensure consistent standards of assessing.  Assessed on excess of 30 boards. 

  • Designed selection procedure for the recruitment of Quality Support Managers into Post Office Counters Limited.  Assessed on excess of 10 boards. 

  • Designed selection procedure for Mails Network Inspectors into Royal Mail. (A fast track operational entry). Ran training course for assessors to ensure consistent standards of assessing.  Assessed on excess of 50 boards. Co-ordinated reports to successful and unsuccessful candidates 

  • Designed assessment procedure for Area Distribution Managers into Royal Mail.   

  • Assessed on the graduate recruitment programme for the Post Office, in excess of 20 boards.  Also assessed on a number of senior management programmes. 

  • Developed procedures and assessed all junior, middle and senior managers who joined my business unit when Assistant Director of the Centre for Business Excellence

  • Developed a variety of bespoke selection procedures e.g. Finance, Personnel and Quality Directors into RoMec (Royal Mail Engineering); Personnel Director into RMI; Personnel Director into Streamline; Personnel and Finance Directors into CASHCO

  • Assessor training and assessment on a variety of assessment centres for Rugby Cement for a variety of levels   

  • Job analysis, assessment centre design and assessment on a variety of assessment centres for career changers within BT. A major project, which I managed involving over 1000 staff and over 35 assessors.  

  • Assessed on development centres for BT sales managers

  • Psychologist Assessor on assessment centres for fast track entrance to the civil service (CSSB and now FSAC). 

  • Appointed a Quality Assurance Coordinator to Civil Service fast track assessment centres based on my level of competence and experience. 

  • Design of a suite of assessment centres for Christian Aid in response to the restructure of the organisation. 

  • Assessor for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office development centres (for appointment to ambassador).

  • Assessor for UK Trade and Industry, various roles
